What Does It Take To Be An ICT Student

In our school, the two science classes and only the first five sections of the regular class have a subject ICT(Information, Communication, Technology). We are very thankful that we had this subject because we can use this knowledge about computers on our college life. And so now that we are soon to finish the fourth grading period, and soon to be called graduates of Ilocos Sur National High School, I would like to share to you what does it take to be an ICT Student.

Being an ICT student, the most important thing you must know is how to follow directions. Without this, you can’t do things in the right way. Even if you don’t know how to operate a computer if you know how to follow instructions, I’m sure you will pass on whatever activity your teacher will want you to do.Also, you must know how to listen carefully to what you’re teacher is talking about. It’s because when you did not listen, you will not understand not only the present lesson but also the following lessons.

It’s not that hard to be an ICT student, you just have to follow instructions and listen carefully.

My Dream, My Future

They say, every people have their own dream in the future but for me, I don’t know my dream. Whenever my teacher talks about my dream in the future, I don’t know what to say, all I really want is to be successful.

As of now, I can’t really decide what to take in college, but I promised to myself that whatever my course will be, I’ll do my best. AJA! Fighting!!

Change: It Starts With Me

Every time we are discontent we do not blame ourselves but blame our school, our teachers, our location, family or friends, or the circumstances we’re in. We attempt to change our school or the place where we reside. Only when it does not succeed in giving us a more wonderful life do we recognize that something inside us needs to be changed.

Before we change other people’s lives, we must begin it first to ourselves. In every experience we take, there’s always a lesson that we can learn from it. And these lessons are the things that convince us to make a change to ourselves. Before we criticize other people, we must look at ourselves first, because you don’t know, maybe you have the worst. When we change, we change for the better. And when we did that, people will like you more.

Perhaps it would be worthy to contemplate on this quote: “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change”. Keep growing, keep learning, and keep advancing. Continuity gives us roots; change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach new heights. It is possible to change the way we think, live, and how organizations function. We just need to embrace change. After all, the bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists.

Kannawidan: Ylocos Festival

Every year, Vigan celebrates the Kannawidan Festival usually, from the last week of January until the first week of February. Through this festival, Ilocos food, arts, trade, crafts, and products are being highlighted. And also in this festival, the cultures and traditions of Ilocos are preserved for the coming generations.

The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival had already established its identity as the prime festival of the province. The festival was launched in 2008 under the leadership of then Governor Deogracias Victor B. Savellano to commemorate the 190th foundation day of Ilocos Sur as separate province through the approval of a Spanish Royal Decree on February 2, 1818.

This festival, for me, is worth watching for ‘cause it makes me very proud to be an Ylocano.

Reflection on the Third Grading Period

Another semester is nearly over, and in this semester, I've learned a lot.  I've learned about the different tags and their uses, how to create a web page, how to place the different tags in the web page, how to insert an image, background image, background color and how to link one page to another.
I've encountered a problem in placing the different tags.  I also had a problem on ending the tags.
I addressed these challenges by double checking if I had typed the correct tag. When I don't really know where I had wronged, I'll ask my classmate to double check my exercise.
Moving on, I will remember this tags for me to create a web page.

“New Year, New Me”

New year is the time at which a new calendar year begins.  It’s a new year again, it came so fast that we didn’t noticed.  It’s again another year for us to hope for another successes.  There were new clothes, sometimes new gadgets, and a new me.

New year reminds us the happenings from the past.  We reminisce the things that had happen, the mistakes we had done.  For me, I go back to the things that had happen where I’ve done something, either good or bad.  I go back to where I had mistakes and then learn from them.I take note of the bad comments people said about me, and try to improve myself in the coming year for them to like me more.  When I’ve done something wrong to a person, I’ll try to apologize to him /her before the year ends, so that I will have no worries in welcoming the new year.  I don’t need to change myself totally for I also consider those people who have liked me for who I am even if I don’t change anything on me.

New year, another year God gave to us so we must be thankful. Another chance for us to be good to other people in any ways.  We must not change totally just for some people to like us.  Let them accept you for who you are before and now that you’ve slightly changed for the better.

Keeping in Mind Our Mother Tongue

We all have the freedom to learn many different languages but there is only one language that we can call our mother tongue –our native language or dialect.
Our mother tongue is the language we are using from the time we learn to speak. Its basics are usually learned from our family.Good skills in native language are essential for further learning, as native language is thought to be a base of thinking. Incomplete first language skills often make learning other languages difficult. Native language has therefore a central role in education. Children who go to school with a strong foundation in their mother tongue develop stronger literacy abilities in the language used at school. When parents or caregivers are able to spend time with their children and tell stories or discuss issues with them in a way that develops their mother tongue vocabulary and concepts, children go to school well prepared to learn the language of their immigrant country and succeed educationally.
Learning our  mother tongue is a first step to our wider knowledge. Even if we are in different places, we must not still forget our mother tongue for even how far we go or how long we’ll be away, we will always go back to our native land for it is where our real happiness is.
